His Story

Forged through adversity.

A rare and aggressive cancer forced Sam to wrestle with the very questions he now answers for others.

Sam Raju is the Founder and President of Engage International, an apologetics ministry committed to reaching a skeptical generation with the truth and beauty of the Gospel. As an itinerant speaker, he has addressed audiences in churches, universities, and secular forums across multiple countries, taking on life's most pressing intellectual and existential questions: Does God exist? Why is there so much suffering? Are science and faith at odds? Did Jesus actually rise from the dead?

Before founding Engage, Sam served as an itinerant speaker with RZIM, traveling extensively to equip believers and to engage skeptics on their own terms — listening carefully, taking objections seriously, and answering them with candor and grace.

But his passion for apologetics was not formed in a library. After facing a rare and aggressive form of cancer, Sam was compelled to wrestle with suffering, meaning, and the goodness of God — not as academic exercises, but as matters of life and death. He emerged with a tested faith and a rare gift: he speaks to skeptics and believers alike with the authenticity of someone who has asked the hardest questions when everything depended on the answer.

That depth is matched by an unusual breadth of training. Sam earned a master's in psychology with highest honors and pursued pre-doctoral studies in rehabilitation psychology before completing a master's in philosophy with honors from Biola University — a path that taught him to understand both the argument and the person making it. He is a member of the Evangelical Philosophical Society and the American Philosophical Association, and an affiliate of the American Psychological Association.
